  • Optional digital image enhancement: The images are often not individually digitally enhanced. I take care of straightening the horizon or the vertical lines that would otherwise "converge" (always necessary for aerial photographs!), cropping (please provide details for enlargement), haze reduction, brightness, contrast, and color optimization, sharpening, and denoising. This type of customized digital enhancement based on my RAW files brings a further significant improvement in optical quality.
  • Optional "RAW" format: If desired, you will receive an undeveloped, uncompressed DNG image file in addition to the developed, compressed JPG file, unless otherwise requested. The resolution, i.e., the number of pixels, is identical in both formats. However, with JPG, the file size is smaller due to the lossy compression. With RAW, there are no compression artifacts. In practice, however, this difference is barely noticeable. The key feature of the RAW format is the potentially higher bit depth of, for example, 3*10 bits per pixel (depending on the camera sensor), which allows for a higher dynamic range than the 3*8 bits of JPG. This means that overly bright or too dark image areas, which would already "fade" to white or "drown" to black in JPG, can still be made visible if necessary. Furthermore, it allows for better control of white balance (the adjustment of the color temperature) and control of sharpness and noise. However, this can only be fully exploited with a RAW developer program such as Lightroom or Adobe Camera Raw, which professional photographers and graphic designers use. In simple viewers like IrfanView or online converters, RAW images often appear dull or blurry because they are undeveloped. If you don't use a RAW developer and have ordered the image with the optional digital image enhancement, you will receive a full-resolution JPG image that I have already optimally developed.
  • The delivery time for archive photos is approx. 1 week
  • The sizes given in cm for prints are only approximate. The origin of analog photography is based on the sizes of photographic paper, which are given in the English unit "inch". Where: 1 inch (inch) = 2.54 cm. According to international standards, however, rounded nominal formats such as 20 x 30 cm and 40 x 60 cm are given in the size specification of photo prints. This means that the nominal format (standard photo formats) does not correspond exactly to the specified dimensions in centimetres. As mentioned, this is an international convention and not a special feature of FLY-FOTO. In addition, minimal production-related tolerances can have an impact on the real size.
